Was
I In That One?
A
huge influx of new talent and the biggest cast we've
ever had. In fact over half of those involved were people who had been
with the group less than a year and three - Keith,
Alison and Emily - had never been on stage before!
It just goes to show that if new members are given a
chance to shine then they will! (And they showed everyone
else up when it came to learning their lines!) |

Quote,
Unquote It was skilful acting that gave us the Courtesan, nothing to do
with typecasting Jane
Not only did I have
the great pleasure of playing someone with no redeeming features whatsoever,
but the audiences got all the jokes as well! Andy
I
loved playing a bloke, different from ANYTHING I've ever done before.
Most memorable bit? Being viciously tied up by Alison, who got
more brutal every night Ailsa
It gave us an opportunity to be a bit different and learn
a whole new language which I can't seem to shake off. I got hit over the head
again but I still had a great time Brian
I couldn't believe that I was given such a great part
for my first role - a bible thumping fornicator! It was extremely tiring
servicing Mistress Harebrain three nights running - I still have the injuries Keith |

Director's
Commentary A
memorable play, methinks. My first shot at directing,
under the careful guidance of "The Master", but it
really was a team effort, with many a new star being
born. Most memorable moments? Too many to mention
really, but here are just a few: Keith and Emily's
remarkably authentic groans of ecstasy, Jane pretending to
be a coy virgin, Brian's
limp.... I could go on (but I shan't). Suffice it to say
that I really enjoyed the experience Miranda
Sharon looked
really good in the policeman's uniform David |

Roll
Over Bill Shakespeare
And tell Thomas
Middleton the news! I've wanted to work with one of Shakey's less
obvious contemporaries for some time and A Mad World, My Masters was just the
ticket. Apart from being killingly funny, it's a manageable two hours long
(after we cut the obscure stuff). I couldn't have done it without Miranda's input (the last act was
almost entirely hers) and the new members performed as if they'd
always been with us. A great way to round off a consistently good
year. (Unhappily Sharon had to give the policeman's uniform back!) David |
