Murder In The Title  For his directorial debut Dave Pearson chose a play with "Murder" in the title. It’s not mandatory, Dave. The Hull Daily Mail called it "a change from their usual light-hearted comedy productions". You could tell they hadn’t been to see us for a while.

I Don't Understand The Plot  Keep it under your hat, but the twist was that Alan actually DID do it!

Quote, Unquote  I was actually working away in Warrington when we did this, so I suspect no-one else was available. Or Dave really, REALLY  wanted me to play Ron -  a rancid, philandering weasel. To preserve the twist I tried to make him as shifty and untrustworthy as possible but, as he was a used car salesman, this didn't pose much of a problem. I recall the lighting was set to "gloomy" for this one - too gloomy for our camera, unfortunately, so most of the photos didn't turn out David
Good performances but hated the play from the first reading – too many unlikeable characters with no redeeming features
