The Pear Shaped Production
The Chameleon Players (Don't) Present The Joyride
a

The Joy Ride by Georgina Reid was our planned production for our first slot at Northern Theatre in January 1989, concerning Lady Godiva's famous ride through the streets of Coventry. It suffered from so many members of the cast (and their replacements) dropping out that we could no longer continue with it and gave it up as a bad job. We had even got to the stage of preparing costumes and having some incredibly naff publicity photographs taken at Lonsdale Community Centre, a selection of which you can see here. (How much is it worth to take these off the Web, Ray?)
Fortunately we had a ready made replacement in Quintet In A Flat but only six weeks in which to rehearse it, including the Christmas break. Kerrie was rather disappointed as she'd had a good part in The Joy Ride but she didn't like Quintet In A Flat one bit. But every cloud has a silver lining and Quintet In A Flat turned out to be a much better production than The Joy Ride would have been.
