Director's Commentary  There were times at the beginning of our rehearsal schedule I thought we would have to shelve this production. I had real problems with casting it , but as usual every cloud has a silver lining, everyone of the cast were brilliant in there particular roles, and we also found three new members who I hope will stay with us for future productions.
Hobson's Choice has been one of my favourite plays and despite some of the early teething troubles I really enjoyed directing it, but that was also due to everyone who helped behind the scenes.  We had good audiences for all three nights and good feed back, one couple said they thought it was better than a professional production they had been to, so that really was a feather in the cast cap
Jenny

Quote, Unquote  I rather enjoyed this one - pompous, drunk, hungover and moaning. It really stretched my acting talents just pretending that I was acting. Jenny was a joy to work for, even if she did get stroppy when we didn't take it seriously, and rightly so I say. And with three devoted daughters, loyal staff and good friends and customers what more could a man want. Answers on a postcard addressed to the Moonrakers Arms please. Time for my early morning draught I think Brian
I must admit that I had a great time resurrecting possibly the ropiest Scots accent since Mel Gibson had a bad make-up day in Braveheart. The play was also notable for me wearing the tightest hat I have ever experienced. It was so tight, in fact, that my eyes ended up being one above the other. Not good for my depth perception Ray
I don't think I've ever had so much trouble with a part before - really wanted to play Maggie sooo much and was thrilled when I got it, but learning the lines was absolute hell! I think I got them right on the last night (don't correct me if I'm wrong, leave me with some dreams please). Loved working with Stan, a great person who made me feel safe on stage but I know he got cross with me for giggling at him in rehearsals - sorry.  Jenny must have had shares in Paracetamol for the headaches because we didn't have a full cast for weeks. Everyone who was cast seemed just right for the role and made it such a nice time. I miss wearing the brass wedding ring a lot, so I'm going to add two silver rings to it, then I can wear it everyday. Thanks to Jenny for so much fun and to Clare for standing by with the prompts Helen
I've always loved this film, so I jumped at the chance to be involved in Jenny's play. We had fun at rehearsals, as usual, and, also as usual, put on an excellent show. I think Brian actually remembered my character name on two of the performances!! It was lovely to see different people acting with us, and I hope they'll stick around for future productions Ailsa
I had really fun doing the play, the cast and the back stage crew were fab!! It was so nice to see new faces in the cast too and I hope that they will stay and join in more future productions. But next time we do a play and I get to play alongside Richard, will someone find me a really large box to stand on please! Mandy
