Director's
Commentary I
can't praise the cast highly enough. They wisecracked their way
through rehearsals, took on a seriously wordy script without blinking, brimmed
with ideas of their own, and reeled me in when I was getting too elaborate.
Also, they took five characters who could quite easily have become
stereotypes and breathed real life and heart into them. Respect. I think it was one of the happiest and most enjoyable productions that I've
been involved with. And Mozza wrote some seriously groovy music Andy |

Was
I In That One?
Clouds
saw Irwin's dramatic debut, playing the spectacularly laid-back chauffeur
Hilberto. He had seen a number of previous Chameleon plays and thought
he'd give it a go himself! Brian and Claire were
refugees from Kirkella ADS. We'd worked with Brian during
Spinoff's Productions' Walk Through Time - part of the Hull700
Celebrations. Claire had appeared
in Kirkella's version of Aurelia. Not a patch on ours, but Claire was very good. |

Quote,
Unquote I had a real ball doing this for loads of reasons: The laid-back but focussed direction of Andy who knew exactly what he wanted
but wasn't afraid of taking ideas and suggestions, the fact that it was a comedy and a
good
one, the audience reaction - it played well and got us some new fans, I had the opportunity to wear a number of the most lurid shirts know to man
and try out my infamous American accent and Brian did a great job as Owen Ray
Getting slapped in the face (twice a
night), kicked in the shin, having to take my clothes
off in public and then being turned down because the
bird preferred a microscope! These people really know
how to make a chap feel welcome Brian
Being in Clouds
was a fantastic experience. Everyone was very supportive and patient
with me in my first role. Will I ever recover....... probably not.
The feedback I and the rest of the cast have received make it all worthwhile.
A piece of Hilberto will remain with me always Irwin

The
Critics Rave
Again
with the praise Hull Daily Mail. "A lovely play, beautifully done.
Claire Dean and newcomer Brian Watson, as Mara and Owen, carried the lion's
share of the witty and intensive dialogue and captured the tentative romance
between these two troubled people beautifully. Steve Clappison shone as Angel,
the couple's go-between on Cuba and Irwin Williams, another new arrival to the
group, played with a great deal of style and confidence". |
