Arms And The Man by George Bernard Shaw

Northern Theatre Studio2
June 25-27 2004

A man breaks into Raina's bedroom and starts a chain-reaction that affects the whole household. Niceties go out the window in this classic tale of romance, social standing and returning heroes.

We Won't Notice The Audience!

After the full houses for 'Ratbrain' we had disappointingly small audiences for this one. Obviously GBS is not such a crowd puller as Edgar Harrison! Or just possibly a combination of Euro 2004 and a Bryan Adams concert at the KC stadium.

The Critics Rave

Quoth the Hull Daily Mail, "Expertly directed, with excellent music by Maurice Houlden, the obvious warmth between Claire Dean and Andy Hodgson made this a real feelgood show which didn't get the audience figures it deserved" Must be Mozza's first ever mention in a review!

Was I In That One?

A warm welcome to Mark who finally got on stage after a long correspondence by email. It made a refreshing change for someone who contacted us in this manner to actually turn up to a rehearsal!

Quote, Unquote

It's been three years since I last was on stage, and this production brought everything back and reminded me what I had been missing! Playing Sergius was a challenge, as he switched from the "apostle of higher love" all the way down to an outright bounder and a cad (at least that's the polite way of putting it!) It's the first time I have ever played the 'bad guy' in a show and I look forward to doing it again Mark

Many thanks to Helen for letting me help and for casting me as an old codger with a 23(?) year old daughter. I suppose I'll never get the juvenile lead again Brian
Quiet humour seemingly enjoyed by all - some even saw the quite rude parts of the play Terry
A great cast to work with. Terry was wonderfully obsequious, Steve deliciously slimy, Emily vivacious, Mark superb and splendid, and Andy - what a man!! Ailsa
